Are there items you do not accept?

Yes, for safety, space, and resale quality reasons, we are unable to accept certain items. Please review our list below of items we are not currently accepting in our donations. Please understand these items are meant as a reference. The HOPE Chest reserves the right to refuse any donation for any reason.

  • Type-style TVs (CRT), except certain vintage console models approved by management.
  • CRT Computer Monitors
  • Expired food items
  • Full-sized Pianos (miniature versions are okay if in good condition)
  • Waterbeds or waterbed frames
  • Non-working electronics or appliances
  • Used indoor/outdoor lighting fixtures or lighting unless new in box or exception made by management
  • Outdated exercise equipment
  • Drop-side cribs
  • Expired car seats
  • Vintage wooden high chairs
  • Single dining tables without at least two matching, functional chairs
  • Used shower doors
  • Open or used paint cans
  • Any combustible material

What are some items you accept or have a need for?

The HOPE Chest relies on certain items to keep the store going. Since the thrift store is our “bread and butter” of the food pantry services (no pun intended), we need rely on constant donations from our great supporters in and around the community. Here is a list of some items we find help our thrift store shoppers:

  • Any and all clothing types
  • Furniture
  • Food items (not expired)
  • Pet food
  • Pet supplies
  • Kid toys
  • Books
  • Kitchen/Housewares
  • Seasonal items
  • Sporting goods
